
China participated in the whole process of negotiations on the BBNJ Agreement and contributed to the conclusion of the Agreement by consensus. China is among the first batch of signatories to the Agreement. From the first day of entry into force of the Agreement, China has been a Party to the Agreement.
China firmly supports the objectives of the BBNJ Agreement and strives to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction, for the present and the long term, through effective implementation of the BBNJ Agreement and further international cooperation and coordination.
Taking marine environmental protection as a priority, China is ready and able to make significant contributions to both the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction.
China is well-prepared in legislation, policy, science and technology, and talent development. It is willing to enhance exchanges, coordination and cooperation with all parties to contribute to the effective implementation of the BBNJ Agreement.
