Xiamen trades with more than 200 countries and regions. The World Bank has recognized Xiamen as a golden city for investment.

The city has 42 sister/friendship cities and provinces across continents, including Nice of France, Fortaleza of Brazil, Surabaya of Indonesia, the Santiago Metropolitan Region of Chile and Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan.

The Port of Xiamen has forged sister port partnerships with 19 major ports internationally, such as the Port of Busan in the Republic of Korea, the Port of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire and the Port of Valencia in Spain.

Xiamen Airlines is the world's first airline to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and a key member of the UN Global Compact.

Each year, over 1.1 million inbound and outbound international traveler trips are made through the ports of entry in Xiamen.
